Scott Hiller, Houston Manager and Geophysicist with TerraSond Limited will be speaking on New Technologies For Locating Subsea Cables at the Subsea Survey IRM Conference Tuesday, November 5th, 2012 in Galveston, Texas.

“The practice of locating subsea cables, especially those not containing ferrous/passively magnetic material, has been the domain of ROV and man-powered diving operations…until now,” states Scott Hiller.

Hiller will present how TerraSond utilizes new technologies and techniques to locate subsea cables without the use of ROV’s, large inductive coils, or the need for instrumentation to be within a few meters of the target cable. Hiller adds, “Our unique technique and technology brings together data from multiple sources providing a complete model of the cable path from riser to riser, thus saving time and money in locating subsea cables.”

Mr. Hiller has 6 years’ experience performing geophysical and hydrographic surveys and is experienced with both seismic and magnetic methods for geophysical studies. Based in the Houston office, Scott is the project manager supporting international and local projects ranging from 2D/3D seismic data acquisition and analysis, large scale differential and conventional magnetometer surveys to very high resolution multibeam sonar surveys. Mr. Hiller has also been involved in the development of new technologies for both high speed and accurate detection of subsea cables and the mapping of isopycnic layers using acoustics.
