Technip Odebrecht PLSV CV, has ordered four PerryTM XLX Generation 2 (G2) 150 horsepower Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) from Forum Energy Technologies, the ROV specialist has announced.

The ROVs are targeted to be delivered in 2013 and will be installed in two newly built flexible pipeline installation vessels, which will, once completed, commence contract with Brazil’s state controlled oil firm, Petrobras.

In a press release issued yesterday, November 5, Forum said it would work closely with the shipbuilder, South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding, and Marine Engineering , to ensure efficient and smooth vessel installation and sea trials.

Technip Odebrecht PLSV CV is a joint venture formed between France-based energy industry company, Technip and the Brazilian oil & gas industry firm, Odebrecht Óleo & Gás (OOG).

The Joint Venture will charter the vessels to Petrobras on a five-year contract, worth approximately USD 1 billion. The vessels will be used to install umbilical and flexible flowlines and risers to connect subsea wells to floating production units in waters up to over 2,500 m deep offshore Brazil, including in the pre-salt area.
