Consilium is now launching the new flexible and user-friendly gas detection system Salwico GDS. Salwico GDS is designed and developed to meet the demands of the customers as well as the regulatory requirements from SOLAS, the majority of Classification societies and the EC (European Community) rules, which are applicable for selected system types.
The key factors when developing the new system, have been system safety, user friendliness and design flexibility.
The Salwico GDS is built on the same flexible and modular platform as Consilium’s fire detection system Salwico Cargo, which was released in 2009 and developed in cooperation with ship-owners and shipyards to ensure that the system design was made as flexible, safe and redundant as these challenging applications demanded.
Using the same platform for the new gas detection system offers many benefits. For instance is the total lifetime cost of the system significantly reduced, when a ship is equipped with Salwico Cargo and Salwico GDS, the same spare parts can be used for both systems. In addition to this, maintenance and service for both systems can be performed by the same service engineer. Another huge advantage is that the operator easily can familiarize with the system, as the HMI between the two systems is identical.
