In the past week shipbuilding industry recorded 13 orders, according to Fearnleys Weekly report. Three of four contracts have been assigned to Chinese shipyards and one went to Korea.
Norwegian-Bermudean shipping company Stolt-Nielsen awarded CSSC Hudong shipyard with a contract for four 38,000 dwt stainless-steel chemical carriers, which includes two optional units. This is the first chemical tanker project for the shipyard. Delivery will start in 2015 with the contract value of circa USD 65 million.
Furthermore, Asia Pacific Shipping Enterprises Pte. Ltd. (APSE), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Queensland Nickel Group (QN), has signed a ship construction contract for four 64.000 DWT ultramax bulk carriers. The vessels will be built at Chinese Jinling Shipyard. APSE anticipates the vessels’ delivery between February and June 2014.
The order book has also been signed by COSCO. Namely the state run shipping company has ordered four VLCCs from domestic yard CSSC Guangzhou Longxue with estimated newbuildings’ price of $90m per ship. The delivery of the VLCCs is planned for 2014-2015.
Greek energy transporter Tsakos has placed an order for 1+1 shuttle tankers of 157,000 dwt with Korean Sungdong Shipbuilding. The vessel is scheduled to be delivered in 2014.
