Japan: Kajima, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Planning 500MW Offshore Wind Farm

Kajima Corp. and the engineering unit of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp. are planning to construct 500MW of offshore wind power in the next five years, the companies announced yesterday.

This follows the statement that these two companies have combined their expertise in a study, aiming to provide the total solution services for designing and construction of offshore wind turbines.

Since last year’s Fukushima disaster Japan has been looking for new sources of energy.
