Bibby Remote Intervention Limited (BRIL) has successfully completed a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) intervention project for Centrica Energy, worth around £900,000.
BRIL is the latest division of Aberdeen-based subsea installation contractor, Bibby Offshore, and was established in late 2011 with the intention of managing the increased market demand for ROV inspection services.
Already this year, BRIL has installed Sub Atlantic Comanche ROVs on all three of Bibby Offshore’s North Sea fleet of diving support vessels (DSVs), including Bibby Topaz, Bibby Sapphire and Bibby Polaris, and it also supplies BRIL survey and position services on-board the DSVs in conjunction with NCS Survey.
This was the division’s first job out with Bibby Offshore and was carried out in the Central North Sea at the Mallard field. It involved injection of a scale inhibitor treatment into the production well in order to help maintain production levels.
BRIL managing director, Mike Arnold , said: “This job signifies a significant step in the division’s development. Everyone at BRIL is proud to have delivered a safe, high quality service for a major operator within the schedule and budget requirements set out. The job was fast-tracked and of an extremely reactive nature, which added to the complexity and planning of the operation.
“This project was a great example of working collaboratively with Bibby Offshore – the success was only possible due to the expertise and hard work of the whole BRIL team, skilfully led by Bibby Offshore project manager, Hadyn Stark, and his fellow engineers who helped pull together all the necessary preparatory works within a challenging timescale.”
BRIL plans to make further investments in equipment over the coming months to complement its existing fleet of five systems. This will consist of ordering a mixed fleet of work-class ROV’s including the 100hp Atom, 150hp Quasars and heavy duty construction ROV the 25hp Quantum.
Bibby Offshore, part of the Bibby Line Group, has grown from 10 employees in 2003 to now employing over 750 people worldwide, with offices in Aberdeen, Liverpool, Singapore and Trinidad. The company has an international fleet of five subsea support vessels including the most modern fleet of DSVs in the North Sea.
