The various sites within STX OSV have for decades built strong technical departments assisting the shipyard organizations with professionalism, skill and enthusiasm enabling the shipbuilding group STX OSV to handle large and complex projects.

Mr. Stig Sandanger Riise will be the manager of the newly established department.
“The demand for engineers has been high for a long time. As shipbuilders, we have many exciting challenges and we need even more bright minds to solve them. In general we are in need of engineers within most disciplines needed for shipbuilding. We will continue with our focus on building competence and expertise. With the new department, we hope we can offer an equal interesting workplace as at our yards, but with less commuting time for those who want to live and work in an urban area.”
There are short distances between STX OSV departments in Ålesund, Norway. The new unit will be stationed in “Glasshuset” in Moloveien, less than a stone’s throw from the main office. From there it’s a short distance to several companies and departments in our shipbuilding group. But most important is the short distance to the shipyards.
“STX OSV Engineering Ålesund will be an extension of the technical departments at the shipyards. More complex vessels and increased workload makes the need for engineers greater. For this challenges we need reinforcements,” says Magne Bakke, Chief Operating Officer at STX OSV .
The technical departments at the shipyards will still be responsible for detail engineering the projects built there. The new unit will reduce the need for external consultants and reduce the workload on the technical departments.
Mr. Riise is Senior Vice President Technology and Engineering in STX OSV AS. Amongst other efforts, he established the design company now known as STX OSV Design.
