Olympic has yesterday declared an option for delivery of another subsea support and construction vessel at Kleven Maritime.

Olympic Shipping stays with local suppliers as the company once more enters into a shipbuilding contract with Kleven for the delivery of one subsea construction vessel of the MT 6022 MK II design, by the local design company MarinTeknikk. This vessel is similar to the one contracted with Kleven in June 2012, delivery is agreed for March 2014.

Over the last two years Olympic has contracted 6 first class vessels at a value of in total NOK 3 billion at Kleven, in recognition of the competitive edge of the Norwegian maritime cluster on price and quality.

For Kleven this is the 10th contract this year, and for CEO Ståle Rasmussen it is very satisfactory to announce yet another contract to a local ship owner as the employees are preparing for the Christmas Holliday season.

“We believe strongly in the market for subsea construction vessels, and we have chosen an attractive design. With this order Olympic Shipping becomes one of the major players globally within this offshore segment,” comments owner Stig Remøy .

“We value highly that Olympic again contracts with Kleven, Kleven look forward to delivering two large subsea support and construction vessels for Olympic,” Ståle Rasmussen comments.
