German offshore wind projects – the current accomplishments, technical challenges and future opportunities, these topics and many others surrounding them will be discussed at GL Garrad Hassan’s 11th Hamburg Offshore Wind Conference (HOW) on 20-21 February 2013.

The conference invites developers, manufacturers, and operators of wind turbines, engineering consultants, investors, energy companies, as well as ship owners and ship yard experts to hear, consider and discuss the offshore market environment, current and future offshore wind projects, financing, offshore installation risks, developments in offshore turbine design and operational trends.

Participants will gain insight into the progress of German offshore projects; representatives from banks and investment firms will give their vision on the maturity of German offshore projects; and ship owners will explain the designs and technologies at work in the latest generation of wind turbine installation vessels. Attendees will learn more about new installation strategies, measures for cost reduction, how risks are managed in multi-contractual projects, which insurance aspects have to be considered and the operational trends which are soon to appear on the horizon.

Furthermore, the latest developments in offshore turbine technology will be discussed: What will the next generation look like? And what do turbine suppliers think about the integrated systems for wind farm designs that utilities and developers are aiming to utilise?

In a panel discussion on the market & regulations, major stakeholders from the German offshore wind industry, including representatives from trade associations, authorities, utilities and turbine manufacturers, will give their perspectives on the current market environment.

The conference will be conducted primarily in German. Simultaneous German-English / English-German translation will be available.
