RenewableUK, in partnership with The Crown Estate, has announced the winner of the Renewable Energy Health and Safety Award for 2013.
Technip PIM was named as this year’s winner on the eve of RenewableUK’s annual Health and Safety conference in Sheffield, the UK’s premier health and safety event for the wind, wave and tidal energy sector.
Ron Cookson, Senior Vice President of Technip Offshore Wind said: “Safe, effective project delivery and innovation are core Technip business values. We are therefore delighted that our success in improving the cable pull-in process has been recognised through this award. I am especially pleased for the members of our team who have brought the Pull-In Module from concept to practical application with great energy and commitment.”
The competition was extremely close, with 7 strong applicants demonstrating their commitment and innovation in ensuring that the renewables sector is one of the safest in which to work.
In addition to announcing the winner of this year’s award, RenewableUK is also launching its new Guidance on Offshore Health and Safety – an online publication specifically tailored to the needs of the wind, wave and tidal energy sectors.
Making the announcement in Sheffield, Chief Executive of RenewableUK Maria McCaffery said:
“Once again this year, the standard of all the entries was extremely high and I would like to extend my appreciation to all the applicants.
“The renewables industry has an exceptional safety record and I am delighted to see this continuing, as members leave no stone unturned in implementing codes of practice which ensure maximum levels of safety for all staff.
“Technip PIM are a shining example of this and I congratulate them on their award.
“It is apt that we are giving this award at our Health and Safety Conference, which highlights the latest advances and innovations in risk reduction. I am especially pleased that we published, today, our guidance on offshore health and safety. As the offshore energy sector continues to go from strength to strength over the next few years we will continue to strive to improve and develop our offshore safety procedures.”
