On Saturday, February 16, Petrobras started up oil production on the FPSO Cidade de Itajaí in the Baúna field (block BMS-40), in the Southern Santos Basin post-salt cluster.
The FPSO is connected to well 9-SPS-88, with production capacity of up to 12,000 barrels per day. Another ten wells (5 production, 4 water injection, and 1 gas injection) will be connected to the FPSO in the upcoming months, to complement the Tiro and Sídon accumulation Development Plan. Production is expected to peak in August.
The new FPSO, owned by the OOG-TK (Odebrecht and Teekay) consortium, was converted at the Jurong Shipyard in Singapore, and chartered to Petrobras. It is able to process up to 80,000 barrels of light oil (34º API) and 2,000,000 m3 of gas per day. The facility is anchored at a water depth of 275 meters, 210 km off the coast, and the oil it produces will be transported by relief tankers.
Petrobras holds 100% of the exploratory rights in block BMS-40.
The FPSO Cidade de Itajaí is the third facility brought on stream by Petrobras this year. The other 2 facilities were FPSO Cidade de São Paulo, which started production at the Sapinhoá field on January 5, and FPSO Cidade de São Vicente, brought on stream in Sapinhoá Norte on February 12. These facilities have boosted Petrobras’ production capacity by 200,000 bpd.
