PGS completed its 6th MC3D survey offshore Lebanon on February 19. The 2,200 sq km PGS MC3D LEB2013 survey will be available for the upcoming license round.

The survey, acquired in cooperation with the Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water, is the first 3D to be acquired in Lebanon using GeoStreamer technology. The results are expected to yield improved imaging compared to acquisition using conventional streamers.

The survey is located along the southern half of the Lebanese coastline, and covers gas-prone Tamar sand structures in the Levantine Basin in addition to potential oil-prone Mesozoic features on the Levant Margin.

The dataset ties with other PGS MC3D surveys in Lebanon. Preliminary data deliverables will be ready for the 1st Offshore License Round in Lebanon, opening in May 2013.

Fully processed PSDM (Pre-Stack Depth Migration) products will be available towards the end of the license round.

February 20, seismic vessel Atlantic Explorer commenced acquisition in the northwestern offshore Lebanon, on the 7th PGS MC3D survey since 2006.
