Orkney has dived deep into offshore renewables, and yesterday’s announcement of the Government’s funding for European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney has proved its status of a leader in marine renewable energy. Also, the South West Marine Energy Park in south west England and The Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters Marine Energy Park signed a collaboration agreement yesterday, in order to support the development of the wave and tidal industry in the UK. There is an impressive supply chain of local businesses geared up to support wave and tidal developers in Orkney.
