The rough seas and stormy weather caused a delay in installation of two submarine cables along the Bali Strait connecting Ketapang and Gilimanuk, the state electricity company PT PLN informs.
Each of these two cables will be able to provide 100 MW, which will add 200 MW to the capacity of the existing two cables on Bali.
With the installation of the additional two cables, Bali will be able to accommodate consumption of up to 896 MW, which rises around 10 % every year, Bali Daily news site reports.
The company’s director of operations for Java and Bali IGN Adnyana said that each of the cables will be 2.5 kilometers long, and that the company has invested around Rp 450 billion (US$46.26 million) for their construction.
