Two wind parks are under development in the North Sea. These two parks, named ‘Gemini’, are being developed by Typhoon Capital. The wind parks will have a maximum combined power output of 600 MW. This will generate 2% of the electricity presently consumed in the Netherlands. The project is thus crucial for achieving the national sustainable energy target in 2020.

The wind parks are to be connected to the national 380 kV high-voltage network, which will require an electric connection between these wind parks and the 380 kV distribution and transformer system at Oudeschip in Eemshaven. From Oudeschip, the power will be diverted to consumers via the national network.

Realising the cable route for this project will require adapting development plans. To this end, the ministers of Economic Affairs (EZ) and Infrastructure and Environment (I&M) will adopt a land-use plan.

Grontmij has been commissioned by EZ to compile this central government-imposed land-use plan. The draft land-use plan is presently available for review.
