Caterpillar Global Petroleum announced Cat® 16CM32C generator sets have again been selected to provide main power for a fixed platform and FPSO slated to operate in the Enping Oilfield.

Four 16CM32C generator sets will be installed on the fixed drilling production platform; the remaining four will be installed on the FPSO, with the option to purchase another 2 generator sets at a future date. Each of the 16CM32C generator sets offers 7,680 kWe (9,600 kVA) and 60 Hz @ 720 rpm. CNOOC China Ltd. placed the order with delivery of the units, including auxiliary systems, occurring in summer 2013.

“We’re pleased to collaborate again with CNOOC as a trusted power solutions provider,” Steve Birdsall , Caterpillar Global Petroleum global offshore sales manager, noted. “Our CM products are consistent, large power performers with stellar capabilities in crude oil handling and performance. We‘ve been able to develop a solid reputation in China as a result of our continued collaboration with CNOOC, where we have supplied crude oil engines to support China’s economic growth since 2002.”

Manufactured in Rostock, Germany, the CM32C generator sets incorporate years of proven component reliability and durability in the offshore industry. The generator sets meet IMO Tier II emissions standards. They feature a well thought-out, complete package that Caterpillar developed for CNOOC as a standard for crude oil handling, and offer enhanced ease of installation and reduced complexity. Generally, the CM32 generator sets allow for customization options to meet exact customer specifications and reduce installation time.

James Wang , MaK China sales manager, noted, “As CNOOC expands their investments and operations in the Enping Oilfield, we are appreciative of their continued selection of trusted CM products and look forward to providing excellent service and support once the CM products are fully operational in the oilfield.”
