Offshore Marine Management (OMM), specialists in the offshore renewables, hydrocarbon and telecomes industry; has recently completed a feasibility study for Forewind’s planned Round 3 Dogger Bank offshore wind energy development.

The study was undertaken to assess route feasibility options along one of the development’s 160km long export cable corridors. The scope of work required OMM to analyse survey data, establish a Burial Protection Index (BPI) and carry out a burial assessment to recommend cable burial depths along the route. This was used to advise on the potential need for corridor widening and cable protection measures, including advising on appropriate techniques for cable burial and protection along the route.

OMM used its in-house Esri GIS facilities to assess the data provided for geology, obstructions and boulder to enable Forewind to be more informed on the potential quantities and cost of cable protection.

Oliver Taylor, Survey Manager at OMM , commented;

‘This was another successful delivery of a feasibility study, which will aid Forewind in the consenting process for one of its development stages of Dogger Bank. OMM continue to offer high quality services to Forewind, which include GIS-based data assessments, feasibility studies and other cable engineering studies’.
