OCTIO AS and WFS announced their collaboration on a solution for large scale standards-based subsea wireless interface for Reservoir Monitoring.

The new solution

Subsea connectors are prone to failure, with subsequent system downtime. Significantly increased reliability and cost reduction can be achieved when subsea connectors are replaced with subsea wireless interfaces. The consortium will demonstrate a cost effective, viable, standards based wireless connection for 3rd party sensors to OCTIO’s Permanent Oil & Gas field Monitoring (POM) system. This will give significant operational and installation benefits, and introduce a new level of flexibility in support of both increased oil recovery and environmental monitoring applications.

The Partners

OCTIO AS is a technology company focused on systems and solutions for permanent and semi-permanent monitoring of injection wells and reservoirs.

The ReM Product line developed by OCTIO AS consists of an Open Architecture subsea infrastructure integrating multiple Sensors for permanent Monitoring of the Reservoir, the Caprock and Overburden, the Seabed and the Water, with 4 component seismic sensors as basic components.

The “Ethernet on the Seabed” infrastructure combines Broadband Reservoir Monitoring for Increased Oil Recovery with Environmental Monitoring and Risk Reduction during Drilling and Injection of fluid, gas or waste.

The ReM Product line with an operational lifetime of 25 years can integrate to existing subsea infrastructure or can be self-sustained through its own fibre optic network back to shore, to a platform or independent Buoy operation.

OCTIO announced in January 2013 that Statoil Technology Invest had acquired a majority shareholding in the company.
