1. Philippines: NAVSEA Supports Removal Operations of USS Guardian

Naval Sea System Command’s (NAVSEA) Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV) continues to support operations to remove and dismantle USS Guardian (MCM-5) from a reef in the Tubbataha Reef National Park in Philippines.

2. Platform no. 1 in Position to Support Costa Concordia Wreck (Italy)

Work started on Giglio Island to install platform no. 1, the biggest subsea base which, with the other 5 subsea platforms, will provide a safe supporting structure for the Costa Concordia wreck after it is rotated into a vertical position (“parbuckling”, as this is known).

3. Divers Caught Cutting an Undersea Internet Cable (Egypt)

Egypt’s coastguard caught three divers cutting an undersea internet cable and causing disruptions to online services on Wednesday, Telegraph reports.

4. BlueShift Plans to Launch ROV Remote Plenum Chamber (USA)

BlueShift, Inc. Mechanical Design plans to launch a revolutionary new design for an ROV tool called a Remote Plenum Chamber or RPC.

5. MPL Orders Subsea IMR Vessel from Havyard (Norway)

Marine Platforms Limited (MPL) have signed a contract with Havyard Group for the delivery of a Havyard 857 Subsea IMR Vessel. The vessel will be Havyard Newbuilding No. 115 and is scheduled to be delivered in August 2014. The contract value is approx. NOK 600 million.
