USA: Green Field Uses Power Hydraulic Fracturing Pumps Powered Exclusively by LNG

Green Field Energy Services announced that it has successfully completed more than 60 fracturing stages using pumps that were powered exclusively by liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The hydraulic fracturing was conducted on a series of wells located in the Eagle Ford Shale play in South Texas, and is the first time in history that 100% liquefied natural gas was utilized as the only fuel source.

Rick Fontova, President of Green Field Energy Services , stated, “We continue to push the envelope in the use of gas as a fuel source in pressure pumping. This application is yet another step closer to our soon-to-be-realized vision of using field gas to power our Turbine Frac Pumps. This is further proof that Green Field’s Multi+Fuel (TM) technology represents the most versatile pumping equipment in the industry, and positions Green Field as a leader in enabling the use of Natural Gas as a fuel source in Hydraulic Fracking.”

Green Field had up to four Turbine Fracturing Pump (TFP) units operating during each frac stage, and each TFP consistently pumped five barrels per minute at a pressure of 7,500 pounds per square inch. This achievement, along with other past firsts met by Green Field, further establishes the company as the pioneer in the use of clean pumping technology in hydraulic fracturing.
