TerraSond Limited has repositioned survey vessel Luna Sea to Alaska. This strategic return enhances TerraSond’s capability to serve clients in the Cook Inlet and South Central Alaska.

Headquartered in Palmer, Alaska with offices worldwide, TerraSond has a long history of providing high quality geospatial, geophysical, and geoscience survey solutions dedicated to imaging the earth worldwide.

The Luna Sea is well suited for performing a wide range of hydrographic and geophysical surveys. TerraSond has used the Luna Sea in operations to chart and survey over 500 square miles of the Cook Inlet for The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and other government agencies. Additionally, numerous hazard surveys have been conducted and completed by TerraSond in the region for oil and gas and other industry clients via the Luna Sea and other vessels in the fleet. Recent South Eastern Alaska and the Cook Inlet surveys conducted by TerraSond have included single beam and multibeam bathymetric surveys, side scan sonar surveys, magnetometer and gradiometer surveys, as well as sub-bottom acoustic profiling utilizing CHIRP or Boomer technologies.

TerraSond’s highly trained and experienced team also performs oceanographic monitoring, Acoustic Doppler Current Profiling, sediment and water sampling from the Luna Sea. The company’s comprehensive capabilities include precision geospatial solutions on land, on water and even sub-sea using a combination of differential GPS, tide gauges, and acoustic positioning systems.

“TerraSond has the right people, the right equipment, and the experience to operate successfully in the ever changing environment of Cook Inlet,” states Cody McCrary, TerraSond Survey Project Manager.
