China: Four VLOCs for Shandong Shipping Corporation

Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (BSIC), China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation’s subsidiary , has been awarded a construction contract for four 250,000 dwt very large ore carriers (VLOCs) by Chinese state-owned Shandong Shipping Corporation, Sinoshipnews informs.

The vessels are expected to be completed within the following three-year period.

The four VLOCs will be engaged in transportation of iron ore for Australian mining conglomerate BHP Billiton.
