Global oil and gas service provider AGR Petroleum Services has overhauled its industry-leading software that allows operators to maximise performance during well construction projects.

Known as P1™ Version 4.0 the software, relaunched this spring has been redesigned with the actual end user, the well engineer in mind – it is 100% faster, significantly more useable and interactive, allowing the customer to communicate online with AGR’s support team.

P1™ Version 4.0 is being rolled out to key clients over the next three months. Like previous versions the tool offers a standardised and systematic approach to many of the key elements of successful well construction.

Several well known operators and company’s key clients have already placed orders for the new version of the software.

P1™ Version 4.0 draws on data from previous well construction projects to offer operators a range of solutions to problems that may arise during construction work. It also provides information on the net effect of changes, allowing users to understand the financial implications of project changes.

Chris Ferrier, Vice President of Information Technology at AGR, said: “When we first launched version 3.0 in 2009 it was revolutionary compared to existing risk management software.

“The philosophy behind this product is that the value of a project is enhanced when operators plan correctly and understand risk and opportunity.

“By drawing on historical data, customers take their finger out of the air and understand the impact of their decision, generating likely outcome scenarios.

“Usability and user-friendliness is key to P1™ Version 4.0. We have made this probabilistic software more slick, smooth and systematic. The new version is particularly beneficial to the junior user and those who spend hours using the technology every day.

“We involved our customers in the research phase of this new launch and many of their suggestions have been incorporated in the front-end design.”

P1™ Version 4.0 is compatible with Windows and supports SQL and oracle databases ( workgroup and enterprise editions ).

The launch of P1™ Version 4.0 closely follows the launch of M2™, AGR’s logistics management software. Both products were designed by the company’s in-house software development team.
