Berge Bulk, an independent ship owner headquartered in Bermuda and managed out of Singapore, has inked a contract with shipbuilding company Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI) for the construction of two VLOCs with 250,000 DWT capacity, Sino Ship reports.
The contract includes an option for two more vessels of the same type. The option is likely to be exercised until August 2013.
CSSC Guangzhou Longxue shipyard, a GSI’s subsidiary, will be in charge of executing the construction work. The vessels’ delivery is planned for 2014 and 2015.
Berge Bulk currently owns and operates a fleet of 26 vessels, equating to over 7 million DWT.
