AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, has been engaged by Xcite Energy Resources Limited (XER) to undertake engineering services for the Bentley oil field in the North Sea. The companies have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support the future field development.

The value of the engineering services contract, which includes concept familiarisation and verification, has not been announced.

In addition, AMEC and XER have signed a MOU to develop a wider services agreement for the Bentley field to cover key items of the field development scope and the ongoing field operations. This will include: project and programme management and controls, engineering and design through the FEED stage and on to detailed engineering and close-out, fabrication management, sub-contractor management, hook-up and commissioning, operations and maintenance planning and system build and Duty Holder services.

Jim Lenton, AMEC’s Engineering Director for Europe , said: “AMEC’s expertise in delivering challenging and complex developments, including heavy oil fields from concept to operations and maintenance, has been key in the development of our relationship with XER. Our relationship with them will see the full spectrum of our capabilities come into play in one coordinated project development.”
