Turbine Transfers, the leading provider of Windfarm Support Vessels, has announced that its most advanced vessel, the BMT Nigel Gee (BMT) designed 26m XSS Cymyran Bay will be on display at Seawork later this month.
This is another example of Turbine Transfers’ ongoing investment and commitment to maintaining its position as the premier Windfarm Support Vessel operator, with a broad range of state of the art vessels.
The XSS (Extreme Semi-SWATH) has been jointly developed by BMT and Turbine Transfers, working in partnership to deliver the optimum vessel for service support to the larger offshore Windfarm developments. Based on Turbine Transfer’s expert knowledge and experience in vessel operations and BMT’s expertise in innovative hull forms, the development programme included comprehensive model testing to optimise the hull form in order to provide significant improvements in motion levels over conventional vessels. The vessel also incorporates a number of innovative features developed by the two companies to maximise its operational envelope and safe working environment, as well as minimising the power requirements, enabling cost effective operations.
The vessel has already demonstrated its superb seakeeping characteristics in trials off the UK’s East Coast during weather where all the conventional Windfarm Vessels were unable to operate. The demonstrable improvement in ride and comfort will enable significantly improved availability throughout the year and therefore higher vessel utilisation, enabling Windfarm O&M operations to be extended.
Having completed all of its trials and regulatory approvals, the Cymyran Bay is now ready in all respects, to commence Windfarm operations.
