CARIS announced its 15th International User Group Conference, CARIS 2014, will be held in Brest, France from June 2 – 5, 2014.

The four-day user group conference will be the world’s largest gathering of CARIS users, providing an invaluable opportunity for new and existing users to congregate.

The theme of the conference will focus on Developing the Blue Economy. The blue economy refers to all economic activities associated with the oceans and seas and is an important topic in the marine industry. In the efforts to sustain the oceans, hydrography will play a significant role through the development of advanced technology that allows forward thinking organizations to benefit from the blue economy.

CARIS 2014 will be an exceptional event, which will include an in-depth technical program. During the conference delegates will benefit from high calibre industry presentations, specialized user group meetings, boot camps designed for new users, an academic poster session, an exhibition featuring key industry manufacturers and service providers and one-on-one product demonstrations. In addition, there will be a number of networking events giving delegates a prime opportunity to mingle with other delegates and make new relationships.

“We are very excited to be hosting CARIS 2014 in Brest,” said Geerten Blessing, Managing Director at CARIS BV. “Brest is an excellent location for our user conference not only because of its beautiful coastline, but it is also considered one of the maritime centres of excellence in Europe with organizations such as SHOM, ENSTA Bretagne and IFREMER located there. We are confident our users will really enjoy CARIS 2014 and will take away new knowledge and shared experiences.”
