DNV will carry out software-version control audits of key equipment, with a focus on software integrity, on the CJ70 jack-ups built at Keppel in Singapore during the commissioning of the units. The work is starting now and will continue until the units are delivered at the year-end.

The contract includes a review of the suppliers’ procedures for software change management and an assessment of how the suppliers follow the procedures during the important commissioning of the equipment.

The work will be delivered by DNV’s global team dealing with Integrated Software Dependent Systems (ISDS) and will include personnel from Singapore, Korea and Norway.

DNV has provided ISDS classification services for the quality assurance of software and integration of complex systems since 2008. The work carried out for Maersk Drilling builds on the ISDS philosophy and expertise within DNV.

“We are experiencing increasing demand from the drilling market for services related to the safety and reliability of integrated software-dependent systems. These services are now becoming an industry standard for offshore drilling units, ” says Knut Ording , manager of DNV’s Systems and Software Reliability Section.
