TANJUNG PIAI 1, the first Malaysia built diesel electric PSV with design from Focal Marine & Offshore, was successfully delivered by Muhibbah Marine Engineering on 19 Jun 2013 to owner Icon Offshore. The PSV will go straight for 1+1 year contract in offshore Malaysia.
The vessel was built in 20 months. During this period, Focal’s design team worked closely and efficiently with yard and owner’s team. As result of the team work, the vessel delivery is one month ahead of schedule.
The “FOCAL 517” PSV is with 3,600 ton deadweight, 750 m2 deck cargo area, complement of 60 men and carriage of multi-cargoes of fuel oil, base oil, fresh water, mud / brine and dry bulks. There are three additional diesel electric PSVs with “FOCAL 517” design are under construction in Malaysian yards.
The design complies with latest regulations including SPS 2008 and MLC 2006.
During past years Focal Marine & Offshore has developed a complete series of PSV design of 64m / 2,000t, 70m / 3,000t, 77m / 3,600t, 78m / 4,000t, 83.6m / 5,000t and 90m / 5,500t deadweight, and more than 30 deliveries are being operated worldwide for various oil companies.
