ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS (COPSAS) has been granted consent to use the 2/7-D well head facility at Embla and the associated subsea pipeline to Eldfisk through until the end of 2028.
Embla is an oil and gas field that is situated in block 2/7 in the southern part of the North Sea. It has been developed with a well head facility that is remotely controlled from Eldfisk. The well stream is transported to Eldfisk through a 6km-long subsea pipeline. The sea is 70-75 metres deep in the area.
Production at Embla commenced in 1993 and the facility was originally designed for a life span of 20 years. COPSAS now expects the field to continue producing until 2028 inclusive and has applied for consent to use the facility and the pipeline accordingly.
Based on COPSAS’s documentation of evaluations that have been carried out to ensure that the facility and pipeline can continue to be operated responsibly and in accordance with applicable statutory requirements, Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has granted consent for continued use through to the end of 2028. Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has conducted an audit of COPSAS’ activities linked to these evaluations.
