ZPMC and China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL) held a signing ceremony for two deepwater AHTS units, on June 19, marking ZPMC’s first AHTS order and adding a new ship type to the offshore engineering fleet.

With three key functions: anchor handling, towage and supply, AHTS is a deepwater three-purpose standby vessel providing multiple operation services for offshore engineering. As the largest and most advanced flagship type among CNOOC’s three-purpose service ships under fabrication, the vessel plays a leading role among similar ships worldwide in terms of engineering efficiency and operation capacity.

This order is scheduled to be delivered in batches in May 2015.

The contract embodies the first cooperation between ZPMC and COSL, a subsidiary of CNOOC.

Nevertheless, it can serve as a model for continuation of working together especially with regard to ZPMC’s transformation of its offshore engineering strategy and march towards the high-end offshore engineering market.
