Class-leading navigation equipment manufacturers Consilium UK announced that they have been appointed to supply the full bridge navigation package to Manor Marine, for the Port of London Authority’s new Mooring Maintenance Vessel currently under build at Portland.
Phil Such, of Consilium UK said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to design and install the navigation equipment for this innovative new vessel, against strong competition among other suppliers. We have enjoyed working with the PLA’s and Manor Marine’s engineers and operational managers, to identify the best equipment needed for the vessel.”
The package of equipment is required to meet International Shipping regulations for vessels of over 400 Gross Tons and also supports and informs the master in a very wide range of vessel operations, including salvage, crane operations and plough dredging.
The PLA’s Navigation Systems Engineer, Garry Shaw , said: “My operational and engineering colleagues at the PLA have worked hard to identify the right level and quality of equipment needed for our new ship. We are delighted that Consilium UK has put together such an effective and comprehensive package, which not only includes the system itself but also provides for future support, with optimum operability and availability at affordable through-life costs.”
The design work for the navigation systems is now underway, to ensure that the package meets all appropriate international radio and Lloyd’s Register regulations.
Construction of the Mooring Maintenance Vessel is proceeding to programme at Manor Marine and the ship is due to commence sea trials in time for its appearance at Seawork 2014. Consilium UK and the PLA will be delighted to demonstrate the system’s capabilities, here next year.
