DSME Bags USD 595 Million Worth Drillship Order

VANTAGE Drilling has placed an order with South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for the construction of a new drillship. VANTAGE Drilling has placed an order with South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for the construction of a new drillship. According to the DSME’s regulatory filing from July 19, the order is estimated to be worth around $595 million.

The vessel, to be named Cobalt Explorer, will be built under the DSME Ultra Deepwater Drillship design and will measure 781’ x 137’ x 62′.

Delivery of this high-specification drillship is set for August 2015.
