Doedijns from the Netherlands has been awarded for the delivery of a major part of the Rig-less Intervention System for the BC-10 FPSO production facility by SBM Offshore Malaysia.

Shell’s BC-10 Development in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil implemented a new method of subsea-separation and boosting which uses vertical caisson separators with Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP’s). In case of failure of these pumps, the existing solution is to call in a conventional drilling rig to perform the intervention operation.

The Rig-less Intervention system (RIS) facilitates replacement of worn or failed caisson based artificial lift systems deployed in the BC-10 field. The entire ESP/Caisson assembly shall be recovered to the surface and landed out in an intervention facility. The designated location for the RIS module is portside aft of the FPSO.

The scope comprises of the complete hydraulic drive and control system plus the skidding system for the RIS. All certified according ABS.

DGI’s Regional CEO EMEA Dirk Smulders commented: “We are delighted to supply this system to SBM Offshore Malaysia. Doedijns is a renowned company with a strong foothold in North West Europe. Thanks to our recent acquisitions in Houston and Singapore we are now able to support our clients all over the world with a strong focus on the global Oil & Gas hubs. This order proves this global expansion is recognized and valued by our global clients.”
