The DSMC (Defense Services Marketing Council) and Qatar NSS (National Security Shield) announced on July 22, 2013 the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) signing to launch the first annual QMARSEC (Qatar Maritime Security – Coastal and Border Surveillance Conference).

This inaugural conference is set to take place in Doha, Qatar, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on October 7th and 8th, 2013 under the ‘Achieving Maritime and Coastal Security through a Joint Concept of Operation’ theme.

According to Staff Brigadier (Pilot) Mohammed A. AL-Mannai, Director, Qatar National Security Shield Project , “ The QMARSEC 2013 conference is coming with a far more comprehensive, quality-led and value-driven programme, featuring senior and key military and security officials from not only the MENA region, but also from the international arena. ”

The Qatar Ministry of Interior is also in full support of this conference as their mission is to achieve peace and public security since modern-day Qatar was established. According to the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, “ Our organization fully supports the effort of this important QMARSEC 2013 conference. ”

The goal of the conference includes providing a fully integrated platform and exhibition for industry stakeholders, operations commanders, officers and military leaders to learn and discuss the most recent maritime security operations strategies via joint endeavors to enhance and deepen inter-agency collaboration and cooperation by taking advantage of the most recent technology in surveillance security.

According to Defense Services Marketing Council’s Chairman, Mathew Cochran , “ The QMARSEC event will create invaluable opportunities for maritime security and defense representatives across the globe. This is a first in a series of fully integrated exhibitions and conferences that will be held in Doha, Qatar .”
