Raytheon Anschütz do Brasil reports a number of contract awards for the supply of gyro compass and autopilot systems to new offshore platform supply vessels built at Brazilian shipyards.

The largest contract covers four shipsets, each with a fully equipped triple Standard 22 gyro compass system, repeater compasses and Anschütz PilotStar D autopilot system, for four newbuilt Platform Supply Vessels, followed by various contracts for DP2-classed gyro systems, dual gyro systems and various autopilot systems.

Additional contracts cover the supply of Standard 22 gyro compasses to local retrofit projects, making use of the tailored retrofit packages for Standard 22 that feature specialized universal course transducers to allow customers to maintain existing heading receivers and peripherals on board.

Unique features of the Standard 22 gyro compass are the patented non-contact transmission of the gyro supply voltage and the optical signal transmission of sensor data. Standard 22 systems include heading monitoring, automatic switch over, an independent transmitting magnetic compass (TMC) path as well as individual speed error correction in addition to manual / automatic correction modes.

Paul Robbe , Managing Director of Raytheon Anschütz do Brasil, states: “ Within a short period of time, we’ve built up a strong support network for the local Brazilian shipping and shipbuilding industry. Over the past seven months, we have sold more than 60 gyro compasses through our new Brazilian distribution structure, boosting out market share in the region. Our customers value the availability of local, competent and fast customer support, as well as having access to high quality, proven navigation systems.”

Raytheon Anschütz do Brasil Sistemas Marítimos Ltda. was established in 2012 and offers shipyards as well as the shipping and offshore industry access to all Raytheon Anschütz navigation system solutions. This includes supply and systems integration, but also local guidance and after sales services.

Over the next years, Raytheon Anschütz plans additional investment to strengthen know-how and infrastructure of the Brazilian subsidiary to make Raytheon Anschütz do Brazil the competence center for maritime systems integration in South America.
