Odfjell Drilling’s semi Deepsea Bergen will be berthed at the Coast Centre Base (CCB) yard in September. The rig will be modified for continued drilling services for Statoil.
Odfjell Drilling has awarded CCB the contract for the yard stay for Deepsea Bergen where the rig will undergo planned client modifications for Statoil.
“The choice of yard is based on a total evaluation with regards to HSE, time and cost. CCB is a modern facility with a long track record for rig modifications. We are looking forward to a safe and efficient upgrade of Deepsea Bergen“ , says CEO Simen Lieungh in Odfjell Drilling .
The yard stay is estimated to 28 days excluding sailing time.
Deepsea Bergen is a harsh environment semisubmersible drilling rig on a long-term contract with Statoil. The rig is currently drilling on the Åsgard field in the Norwegian Sea. The rig completed a major client upgrade for Statoil in 2012 at the Westcon Yard in Ølen, Norway and is again being upgraded for future service to Statoil. After completing this yard stay the Deepsea Bergen will be ready for additional challenges for Statoil on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
Main jobs to be executed are:
• Change of completion equipment
• Instalment of blisters to improve variable deck load
• Instalment of new BOP crane
• Change of cement unit
• Installation of new LER room (Local Electrical Room)
