Oil and gas engineering firm FES International has begun delivery of a contract to provide subsea components to recover oil reserves from a frontier development off the northwest Australian coast.
FES International will supply diverless bend stiffener connectors (DBSCs) to Technip for the Balnaves field development in the Northern Carnarvon Basin. The development is being operated by Apache Energy.
UK-based FES International secured the contract last Autumn and delivery of the DBSCs is now underway.
FES International’s Managing Director, Rob Anderson , said the contract was the latest batch of DBSCs for floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels set to operate off the Australian coast.
He said: “We’re particularly pleased to have won this contract because it represents repeat business from Technip.
“Relatively small isolated fields like those in the Carnarvon Basin mean the demand for nimble FPSO technology is growing rapidly and we’re happy to have satisfied the demand to deliver products which offer quick, efficient and cost-effective installation to the developer within its tough time constraints.”
FES International first supplied DBSCs to Technip in 2006.
