Coastline Surveys has been awarded a contract to undertake offshore geophysical surveys for East Anglia Offshore Wind Limited (EAOW) in support of the development of the Offshore Cable Corridor for East Anglia THREE and East Anglia FOUR. This contract will provide up to thirteen full time jobs in the local area, with a further seven in other areas of the UK.

EAOW is a joint venture between ScottishPower Renewables (UK) Limited and Vattenfall Wind Power Ltd, the Swedish energy utility. Together they have been awarded rights to develop up to 7,200MW of wind capacity off the coast of East Anglia as part of The Crown Estate’s Round Three offshore wind programme.

Coastline will undertake a series of bathymetric and sidescan sonar surveys, sub bottom profiling and high resolution MBES surveys. These will provide detailed information to support the Environmental Impact Assessment and enable preliminary cable installation design to be undertaken on the additional area that is to be included in the Offshore Cable Corridor for East Anglia THREE and East Anglia FOUR. Coastline will deploy their own survey vessel MV FlatHolm which is fully equipped with a complete suite of survey equipment along with their specialist team of hydrographic surveyors.

Andy Johnson, Divisional Manager for the team is delighted with the award and said “ We have worked hard this year to build on our long standing reputation for high quality geophysical surveys. We have invested in developing a strong team of specialist surveyors along with state-of-art survey equipment on board our survey ship, MV FlatHolm. I am pleased that our efforts are paying off and that Coastline was able to win such a prestigious contract against some pretty stiff competition. This continues a successful programme of surveys recently completed for the renewable sector, including a substantial ROV inspection, cable burial and asset assessment survey for a UK based renewable energy test site.”
