FoundOcean, contracted to Subsea 7, has completed member infill grouting services to strengthen a tubular member of the DPPA Platform situated within Morecambe Bay in the Irish Sea.

A horizontal steel member at elevation -7m on the platform was filled with ordinary Portland cement grout to give it additional residual strength in preparation for a clamp that will be fitted at a later date. The member was 27m long with an inside diameter of 0.6m, resulting in a total grout volume of 7.6m3.

The contract follows an upsurge of inspection, repair, and maintenance contract wins in the past quarter, due to the increasing numbers of European offshore assets undergoing structural upgrades as part of life extension programmes.

Jim Bell , Managing Director for FoundOcean commented, “We expect to see more of this type of contract over the coming years as operators address declines in production due to the impact of their ageing infrastructure.”
