During an ongoing project, the Rigmar Underdeck Suspended Habitat (RUSH) system was deployed to create ease of access to the under deck of on the Diamond Offshore Drilling-owned rig,the Ocean Princess.
The system was installed in just 21 days, allowing access for fabric maintenance as well as hot works, including steel repair and replacement.
Steven Bunting, Divisional Manager – Specialist Access spoke of the project that is believed to be another first from Rigmar: “RUSH is a unique system and new to the market. This project was the first of its kind in the UK and proved to be highly beneficial, allowing safe access to the under deck of the asset.
“The success of this project was largely down to the installation of the RUSH system, which combines Spaceframe powered lifting platforms for material handling and the rapidly deployable Quikdeck system for accessing the under deck. The technology, supported by our highly skilled team of riggers, ensured the project was delivered to schedule.”
Speaking more on the benefits, Steve continued: “Working together, the two systems carry significant benefits and on this project allowed the structure to be installed in less time than traditional methods. The solution also created ease of access, allowing the client to deliver complicated scopes of work, safely and efficiently. More specifically, reduced connection points to the steel work compared to traditional tube and clamp, created a virtually uninterrupted working area, which in turn increased the productivity of the client’s work scopes.Works are ongoing at Able UK’s Seaton Shipyard with the RUSH de-rig scheduled to take place on the 1stof October 2013.”
