MV Industrial Merchant was launched successfully, on October 4th, at Peters Shipyards in Kampen, the Netherlands.
The vessel is the sixth in a series of 10,000 DWT cargo ships built under the project name of Sole. With a length of 114m, a width of 17m and a draught of 7.9m, it is the largest model that has ever rolled off the slipway at Peters Shipyards. The ship is equipped with a strait bow, rather than the usual bulbous bow. The superstructure is mirrored and reversed and therefore located further sternwards. Most of the tanks are located at the sides of the ship. These adaptations mean that streamlining has been improved, and there is more space created below decks.
In terms of configuration and versatility, the Sole is an innovative and unique ship. The size of its hold makes the ship extremely adaptable because it can carry even large project cargos like wind turbines and yachts.
The ship’s low fuel consumption is an environmental attribute of paramount importance to Groningen-based shipping company Canada Feeder Lines BV.
The Momentum Scan, Marvel Scan, Motion Scan, Martini Scan and Industrial More were launched since 2010.
