Ampelmann has literally made a bang at the Offshore Energy 2013 Exhibition & Conference.
The Dutch specialist in offshore crew and cargo transfer systems attracted attention of many when a band of four, wearing uniforms and helmets with an Amplemann logo, followed by two clowns on stilts, marched into the Hall 11 of the event, drumming their way to the company’s booth.
Around a hundred people gathered at the stand to see what was going on. When the drumming was over, the Ampelmann CEO, Jan van der Tempel, together with a representative of NAM, unwrapped a box containing a miniature of the company’s ‘yet another breakthrough in offshore access’.
The unit , a full motion compensation offshore access system, is an upgraded version of the company’s previous E-Type model, only now it is fitted with the cargo transfer system ‘No. 2.0′
Unlike its precursors, it is capable of transferring a 10 ton cargo to 30 meters above the waterline.
According to a leaflet supplied to Offshore Energy Today, the entire process, from the installation on board a vessel, to becoming fully operational, takes only 72 hours.
NAM, the Dutch national gas company, will be the first to deploy the upgraded E-type, in support of its offshore production platforms in the Dutch part of the North Sea.
This technology, designed in the Netherlands, allows staff to ‘walk to work at sea’ between a vessel and a platform.
Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference 2013 has officially began this morning at 09.30 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It is expected to spark the interest of over 8,500 visitors from the sector.
