Asian Shipyards Select Kongsberg’s ‘Full Picture’ Solution for New Projects

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in Korea and Cosco Shipyard in China have selected KONGSBERG’s “Full Picture” solution with extensive Dynamic Positioning (DP), Automation, Navigation , Hydroacoustic positioning and riser management solutions from KONGSBERG for a total of nine advanced Offshore Drilling Units, one accommodation Units, one Multipurpose Construction Vessel and four LNG vessels with Integrated Automation System valued at a total of more than 400 MNOK.

One of the contracts with SHI is for two advanced Drilling Jackup, GustoMSC CJ70 design, equipped with Full Picture Solution from Kongsberg. This contract is an important project for KONGSBERG in the new and growing market in Korea.

“ Kongsberg Maritime has over years built up extensive expertise in Korea and China, both within the merchant and offshore segment. The past years we have secured several offshore projects in close cooperation with these major yards and this latest round of contracts reflects our strong position in the advanced offshore vessel and platform market. We truly appreciate the confidence shown by both the shipyards and the vessel owners when awarding us with these prestigious contracts” comments Geir Håøy, President at Kongsberg Maritime.

“The orders represent our Full Picture strategy, as we are supplying all key positioning and automation systems, whilst the new generation Riser Management Systems are designed for drilling units and delivered by our sister company Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies.”
