INPEX CORPORATION (INPEX) announces that through its wholly-owned subsidiary, INPEX South Makassar, Ltd., it commenced natural gas production from the Ruby gas field (the Field) in the Sebuku PSC in Indonesia, on 27 October 2013.

The Field is located 300km south of Balikpapan City in Indonesia with a water depth of approximately 60m. The development plan of the Field was approved by the Government of Indonesia in July 2008 and the field development by INPEX with partners Mubadala Petroleum, the operator, and Total started soon after. The natural gas produced from the Field is delivered to the existing onshore processing facility of the Offshore Mahakam Block through a subsea pipeline. Then the gas is processed and supplied to a fertilizer plant located in East Kalimantan, Indonesia via an onshore pipeline. The Field is expected to produce natural gas at the rate of 100 million scfd (approximately 17,000boed).

INPEX has a 50% participating interest in the Offshore Mahakam Block, which has the largest gas production in Indonesia. INPEX is also engaged in developing the large scale Abadi LNG project in the Masela Block, the Arafura Sea, for which INPEX is now preparing for the development as the operator. INPEX will continue to expand its exploration and development activities in Asia and Oceania as one of its core business areas.
