China’s TSC Group Holdings, has, through its subsidiary EMER received a contract from Zentech to deliver jacking systems for its new jack-up rig design: the R-550D

The jacking systems will be produced in China under the total control of TSC, reducing overall delivery time. The contract is valued at between USS$14 to 16 million.

The R-550D is a high performance, three legged, jack-up drilling rig, designed for worldwide service in up to 400 feet (121.9m) of water depth. Design features include a large extended reach cantilever, a zero discharge system, a high speed preloading system, a high pressure drilling system, a high volume storage system and many other features which increase safety and operating efficiency. The design has been approved by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and meets requirements of various fast growing emerging markets.

Zentech is a Houston based marine engineering and naval architecture consulting firm specializing in the offshore oil and gas and renewable energy industries. The company has an over 30 year history of providing innovative engineering solutions , and employs professional staff of over 160 in six international locations. Zentech’s expertise encompasses dynamically positioned semi-submersibles, drill ships, jack-ups, barges, fixed offshore platforms, fabrication yards, floating production systems, risers and pipelines.
