Subsea works on the inter array and export cables at locations of four UK’s offshore wind farms are about to commence.

Divers from the Dive Support Vessels ‘HBC SUPPORTER’ and ‘TERRAMARE 1’ will carry out construction works on subsea cables inside the perimeter of the West of Duddon Sands offshore wind farm. The works will also be done within areas of the neighboring offshore wind farms: Walney 1 and Walney 2, and the Barrow offshore wind farm.

Furthermore, diving operations will be undertaken along the West of Duddon Sands’ export cable routes. Two 150kV subsea export cables have been laid and buried from the landfall position at Middleton Sands all the way to the substation.

The safety of exposed export cables of adjacent wind farms is ensured by guarding vessels.

The West of Duddon Sands offshore wind farm is a joint venture between DONG Energy West of Duddon Sands (UK) Limited and ScottishPower Renewables (WoDS) Ltd.
