Infocast, the leading business intelligence and networking events producer in the water management industry, has announced its inaugural Ballast Water Management Summit, scheduled for February 25 – 27, 2014 in Long Beach, CA.

New regulations for ship ballast water management are being implemented by the US Coast Guard within the year that are projected to cost ship owners billions of dollars for expensive retrofits – and new ships will have to be built with compliant ballast water management systems as well. The technology and systems required to bring ships into compliance are hugely expensive and complex. Recent estimates put the ballast water treatment and management market at $30 billion. With looming deadlines, it’s imperative that the industry focus on getting ballast water management systems in place now.

Only those who understand the issues thoroughly and can work together effectively will be able to operate successfully and cost-effectively in this new environment. Infocast has launched the Ballast Water Management Summit to provide a forum to exchange information and strategize cost-effective, practical solutions for compliance, now and going forward. Speakers include American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Ballast Water Working Groups, IMO, Canadian Shipowners Association, Chamber of Shipping of America, DESMI Ocean Guard A/S, EPA, Hach Company, Hyde Marine, Inc., INTERTANKO, Matson Navigation Company, Microvi Biotechnologies, Inc., MIOX Corporation, Port of Hueneme, Port of Long Beach, Princess Cruises, U.S. Coast Guard (invited), and World Shipping Council.
