Coda Octopus Group, Inc., recently delivered an Underwater Inspection System (UIS(TM)) to the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD).

The UIS™ is an integrated real time 3D sonar system for underwater inspection applications including port and harbor construction, maintenance, port expansion, maritime security, and route clearance surveys. The all-in-one system is comprised of the real time Echoscope® 3D sonar, a day/night camera, positioning system, an easy to use precision pole assembly and operator’s laptop.

The UIS™ system will be used as a multi-faceted sonar for underwater inspections of critical infrastructure assets and risk assessment, vessel hull surveys and routine clearance surveys.

The SFPD Marine Unit’s Sergeant Keith Matthews said: “The UIS™ system provides real-time functionality unmatched by any of the other technologies we investigated. The Echoscope’s unique real time visualization capabilities will allow us to instantly make decisions regarding subsurface targets, thereby maintaining our Port’s critical commerce and transportation operations. We are excited to be adding the UIS™ to our maritime security tool box.”

Blair Cunningham, President of Technology said: “we are very pleased to welcome the SFPD to our UIS™ user community. Coda Octopus UIS™ continues to prove its value to port operations and maritime security, reducing risks and reducing operating costs.” [mappress] Press Release, January 15, 2014
