Vos Prodect Innovations has announced the completion of a new test on the permanent section of the cable hang-off system.

With the latest test, the company’s main aim was to determine the maximum axial cable load that the permanent hang-off part can withstand.

Vos Prodect has used a 3x630mm² submarine cable, which was secured at the permanent hang-off by means of clamping on the armour wires. A pulling force up to 200kN was reached, without any sliding of the cable armour wires. Since the chinese finger used for pulling on the cable was not able to withstand greater pulling forces, the test had to be stopped.

Although the maximum load could not be determined by this test, the results are very satisfying as 200kN leaves enough safety margin in order to cope with the export cables, used for the offshore wind farms. “This means we can now take another step closer to bringing the export cable hang-off to our valued customers.”

Being an independant designer and developer of inter-array cable hang-off systems, Vos Prodect has maintained its market leading position by achieving a delivery volume of more than 900 systems over the last 2 years.
